Track tech inspectors to determine class compliance, year of vehicle, as well as mechanical and safety standards for all classes.
FLATHEAD CLASS RULES:
CARS
Year:
- Car bodies must be 1954 or older
- American made only
Engine: - American made 4 cylinder
- V8 flatheads, OHV straight 6 cylinder and 8 cylinder
- 1954 or older
Fuel: - Gas only
- NO ALCOHOL OR NITRO!
Running Gear: - 1954 or older
Wheels and Tires: - 15-18” wheels
- No slicks
Paint: - Period paint that emulates the early days of racing
- Cars can be shiny, primed or have old paint
- 3 number maximum
- Do not letter your car until you receive your approved number
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS & RESTRICTIONS - All cars must have a modern lap belt or 5-point harness
- All car racers need a DOT helmet dated within the last 7 years
- Cars must have visible race numbers, 3 maximum
- Numbers should appear utilitarian, not modern or fancy
- Paint, white masking tape, or shoe polish also accepted
- Radiator catch can NO ANTIFREEZE
- Races will be 1/8 mile
- Vintage, reproduction parts are accepted (ie. frame rails, intakes, cylinder heads,
ignition systems, Stromberg carbs etc.) - A vintage style round or square roll car is ok on roadsters, not mandatory
- No cages – just like the originals
- When sitting, the roll bar needs to be no more than 2” over the driver’s head with
a helmet on - Brakes on all four corners/wheels
- Arm restraints on open cars
- Must pass Mission Raceway tech inspection
